Privacy policy
What we collect, why, and how to get rid of it.
Date effective: 5 October 2026 (RC-POL-PP-R3)
This policy covers Redditch Connected Limited ("we", "us"), registered in England and Wales, company number 11625172, registered at 4 Church Green East, Redditch, B98 8BT. We are the data controller for the information described here.
We have written this in plain English rather than legal boilerplate. If anything is unclear, email hello@redditchconnected.co.uk and we will explain it.
The short version
- We only collect personal information when you choose to send it through a form.
- Our analytics are built in-house, set no cookies and store no IP addresses.
- We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels or any third-party tracking.
- We never sell your details and we do not add you to a mailing list.
- Enquiries that do not become work are deleted after 24 months, automatically.
What we collect, and when
When you send an enquiry
The quote wizard and the contact form both ask for information. Only your name and email address are required. Everything else is optional, unless the work involves visiting your premises, in which case we ask for a postcode so we can plan travel.
- What you type: your name and email address, optionally your phone number, company and postcode, plus your answers about the work and any message you write.
- What your browser sends: your IP address and browser user agent, stored with the enquiry.
We keep the IP address and user agent for one reason: identifying and blocking automated form abuse. They are not used to build any profile of you.
Why we are allowed to: you have asked us to get in touch, so we process this to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and in our legitimate interest in answering business enquiries and keeping our forms free of spam.
If you start the quote wizard and do not finish
We record how far through the wizard people get and which services they pick, so we can see where the form loses people and improve it. That record contains only the options chosen and the step reached.
Your name, email address, phone number, postcode and message are never saved unless you press send. If you type your email address and then think better of it, we do not have it. These records are tied to your browsing session by a one-way hash, kept for 90 days, and are not created at all if you have turned analytics off.
When you are just reading the site
We count visits using our own software, on our own servers:
- We record the page, the site you arrived from if any, a rough device type, and the time.
- To tell one visitor from another we combine your IP address and browser with a secret that changes daily, and store a one-way hash of the result. The IP address itself is never written down, the hash cannot be reversed, and because the secret rotates, yesterday's visit cannot be linked to today's.
- Nothing is stored on your device, so no cookie is involved.
- These records are deleted after 14 months.
We consider this anonymous. Even so, you can switch it off: choose Reject all in the cookie banner, or turn Analytics off in . We also honour Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals automatically, without you having to ask.
Cookies
We set three, all necessary for the site to function, none used for tracking or advertising. Each one is listed individually on our cookie policy.
How long we keep things
- Enquiries that did not become work: 24 months, then deleted automatically.
- Enquiries from people who became customers: kept as business records while we work together and afterwards where accounting or legal obligations require it.
- Unfinished quote wizard runs: 90 days.
- Anonymous visit counts: 14 months.
- Emails between us: for as long as the working relationship needs, then reviewed.
The first three are deleted by an automated job that runs daily, not when somebody remembers.
Who else sees it
We do not sell or rent your information and we do not share it for anybody else's marketing. A small number of suppliers necessarily handle it so that we can operate:
- Our hosting provider, which stores the site and its database.
- Our email provider, which delivers the messages we send and receives your replies.
They act on our instructions under contract. We will disclose information to anyone else only where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.
Where it is kept
Our systems are hosted in the United Kingdom. Where a supplier processes data outside the UK, we rely on the safeguards permitted by UK data protection law. If you want to know exactly which suppliers we use at any point, ask and we will tell you.
Keeping it safe
The site is served over HTTPS, the enquiry system requires an individual staff account with a rate-limited login, and passwords are stored hashed. No system is perfectly secure and we will not pretend otherwise, but we take it seriously and we will tell you promptly if anything affecting you goes wrong.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- Show you what we hold about you, and give you a copy.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete it, where we have no continuing reason to keep it.
- Restrict or object to what we do with it.
- Transfer it to someone else in a portable format.
Email hello@redditchconnected.co.uk and we will deal with it within one month, at no charge. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, so we do not hand your information to somebody else.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled it you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.
Children
This site is aimed at businesses and we do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18. If you believe we have, tell us and we will remove it.
Other people's websites
Where we link to another site, that site's own privacy policy applies once you leave ours. We have no control over what they do.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or what we do with it, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Where a change is significant we will make it obvious rather than quietly editing the text.
